Happy May Day! & Swap reminder!

Happy May Day! This is a picture of "May Day 1911". This was when the traditional May Pole was wrapped with colorful ribbon by ladies. Wonder when that custom stopped?! Strange how we change our traditions as time goes on! I hope the month of May will bring you many joys & wonderful memories with family & friends!

SWAP REMINDER

  2. I remember going to a May Pole dance that my aunt was in back when she was in high school. I remember thinking I couldn't wait to do that but of course by the time I got in high school, that was a thing of the past. lol

Hope you have a great weekend,
    Debbie

  4. Yes, I too went around the Maypole with the streamers of crepe paper. Up and under braiding them as we went.
also making May baskets and delivering them to elderly and to friends...running like heck not to get kissed...but never too fast if a boy we had a crush on!

  5. I got to do the May Pole dance in 3rd grade! It was something tha we all looked forward to! The pole had the prettiest, most perfect ribbons, we got to wear our prettiest dress, to match our ribbon of course, and when we got there, we got flower garlands for our heads. It was at the May Fair at Chadds Ford Elementary in Pa and from what I understand, it is still going on! :)
    Thanks for reminding me!
