"Wood'n it be Nice?" Wednesday

Sorry for posting this today! This is actually yesterdays post, but I have been so busy that I literally could not finish this up until today! We have plumbers in our house tapping in our sewage lines to city sewage and they had to cut up my concrete basement floor. No big deal usually, but this is my craft area! So, my craft room has been pretty much "off limits" since last week! But, I did sneak down while they were at lunch and finished this in the garage.

Here is a project that is made with just using some of my scrap wood.

Wooden Wall Box

Supplies:
*Scrap piece of wood (I am using an old coffee table top that is 1x15x24. You can use two pieces of 1x8 placed together for this project)
*Scrap piece of 1x6 pine (cut two of them 2 1/2" long and one piece 12" long)
*Scrap piece of 1x4 pine (cut 10 1/2" long)
*3 Square head Masonary Nails (I rusted mine!)
*Small drill bit
*Craft paints of your choice & Dark Walnut Stain
*Decorations

Diretions:
First, we are going to make the "box" on the front. We will do this by taking your 1x6x12 piece and nailing in your two 1x6x2 1/2" pieces to each end.

Now, lets add your "bottom" to the box. Take your 1x4x10 1/2" piece and nail it in along the bottom inbetween the sides.

Now, lets attach the box to your board. Attach this from the back using atleast 1 1/4" finishing nails. I centered mine on my board and measured up 6" from the bottom.

Next, I am going to take my Masonary nails and space them out evenly along the bottom about 3" up from the bottom of the board.

Time to paint your piece! I just used Black, then I sanded it and applied a dark walnut stain all over. Then just wiped it right back off.

Time to decorate! Fill your box with some greens and add some hanging candles from rusty nails. Here is my finished box! I did add a stenciled star to the top of the board as well..
